Summary

A Vacancy at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be a part of our CRN East Midlands flexible workforce, the Direct Delivery Team.

Are you an individual with current clinical research experience, who is keen to gain more experience in conducting research across differing specialties and settings supporting commercial and non-commercial research? Or an individual currently working in an administrative research role who is keen to move into a patient facing research delivery role to progress in their career?

The post holder will be based at our office in Albany House, Wellingborough or Knighton Street Outpatients, Leicester Royal Infirmary, however extensive travelling across the regions will be expected, and some travel across the East Midlands will be required.

Our flexible Direct Delivery Team workforce has built a reputation of excellence, providing researchers with a service to achieve high quality outcomes. With ambitious plans to expand the team and provide development opportunities to provide the team with the skills required to support the delivery of research in public health, community and social care settings.

You will be responsible for your own workload and support colleagues to carry out their caseloads of NIHR portfolio clinical research trials/studies.

Traditionally, the majority of healthcare research has been conducted in secondary care settings, however, the research landscape is changing and this post will be vital in supporting the LCRN in adapting to this change. The post holder will join us at a very exciting time for the CRN East Midlands. The network intends to develop its ability to respond to public health requirements and be best placed to respond to the changing research landscape.

.he National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) has transformed the delivery of research in health and care settings. Together, the NIHR people, programmes and centres of excellence represent the most integrated health research system in the world.

The NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN) is an arm of the NIHR dedicated to supporting patients, the public and health & care organisations across England to participate in high-quality research. CRN East Midlands (CRN EM) is one of 15 Local Clinical Research Networks covering England, led by a National Coordinating Centre.

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:
• high-quality care for all,
• being a great place to work,
• partnerships for impact, and
• research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
• we are compassionate,
• we are proud,
• we are inclusive, and
• we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.

The CRN East Midlands Direct Delivery Team Clinical Research Practitioner will be responsible for the collection, recording and maintenance of data for patients on NIHR portfolio studies.

The post holder will support current portfolio research staff in ensuring the
completeness, accuracy and consistency of the data in order to meet standards expected for reporting to regulatory bodies.

The individual will provide clinical support to patients in clinical trials; such as taking samples, performing tests and physical measurements in accordance with the clinical trial protocol and Good Clinical Practice.

A key responsibility of the role will be to support research across the network and to take responsibility for the coordination and facilitation of concurrent research studies.

The post holder will ensure compliance within the network and NHS trusts policies on data protection, confidentiality and security.

The role will provide clinical research practitioner support to various clinical specialties conducting research in NHS organisations, as well as public health, community and social care settings, across the CRN East Midlands region.

We are proud to be at the forefront of health and social care research delivery in the East Midlands, working with partner organisations operating in a broad range of settings across Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Rutland, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire.

Hosted by the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, our model incorporates a number of different roles to enable us to drive clinical research delivery performance, and to ensure that research is championed across every level of health and care.
