Job Description
We are currently seeking skilled Stonemasons to join our team. As a Stonemason, you will be responsible for erecting and repairing structures of stone and similar materials. You will also cut, shape, and polish granite, marble, slate, and other stones for building, ornamental, and other purposes. This role requires precision, craftsmanship, and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine drawings, photographs, and specifications to determine job requirements.
- Mark and cut stone using hammers, mallets, and hand or pneumatic chisels.
- Use hand and power tools to shape, trim, carve, cut letters, and polish stone.
- Level, align, and embed stone in mortar, concrete, or steel frame to make and repair structures.
Qualifications and Experience
- No formal academic entry requirements, though GCSEs/S grades are advantageous.
- Entry typically through an approved apprenticeship program or college course in conjunction with on-the-job training.
- NVQ/SVQ Level 2/3 qualification is desirable.
- Building up work experience supplemented with short courses is also accepted.
