We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in High-Pressure Neutron Diffraction.

The Opportunity:

Following a recent successful bid for funding from EPSRC we are seeking a PDRA to join the School’s programme of neutron scattering studies of simple-molecular systems at megabar pressures. The successful applicant will join the school’s High-Pressure Chemical Physics Group and will undertake a programme of research based at Edinburgh’s Centre for Science at Extreme Conditions and at the Spallation Neutron Source at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in the United States.


Your skills and attributes for success:

A PhD (awarded or submitted) in Physics, Chemistry, Earth Sciences or other relevant discipline.
Expertise in the use of diamond anvil cells for experimental studies at high pressure.
Experience of work at X-ray or Neutron central facilities.
Expertise in writing and using software to analyse scattering data.
The ability to communicate complex research results both orally and through written work.
