Summary

Car Park Attendant

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To secure effective and efficient management of City Council’s various on/off street (including multi storey) parking required under the Road Traffic Act 1991.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

• To ensure the efficient and effective operation city wide of the City Council’s Pay & Display parking, off street parking (including multi storey and Pay on Foot car parks) within the designated Permitted parking Area/Controlled Parking Zone in accordance with the Road Traffic Act 1991.
• To carry out mobile patrols throughout the day at locations in accordance with policies and procedures city wide.
• To authorise in accordance with policies and procedures the immobilisation or removal of vehicles parked in contravention of Traffic Regulation Orders.
• To record and report in accordance with policies and procedures defects in lines signs, other parking equipment, general repair and maintenance matters, defects in street furniture, standards of cleanliness and other problems detrimental to the parking area and public safety.
• To wear a uniform as issued and in accordance with policies and procedures.
• To work outdoors throughout the day in all weathers
• To attend hearings when required in accordance with policies and procedures.
• To assist with the temporary suspension/closure of parking areas/car parks.
• To provide general advice and guidance to members of the public
• To utilise and be responsible and accountable for radio and Handheld Computer Terminals or other equipment as supplied to.
• To undertake any other duties associated with the post or service provided.

General Service Conditions
• Shifts may be altered with short notice (24 hours) from time to time in the interests of service provision.
• To build strong working relationships between local communities, public sector agencies, local business, and other key partners.
• To contribute to sustainable development in all duties undertaken.
• To participate in all aspects of training and development, including the maintenance of disciplinary standards, as directed. Use all learning opportunities to develop personal skills necessary to improve effectiveness, efficiency, and delivery of service in recognition of the Portfolio’s business and service targets.
