Basic DBS disclosure required for this role

The purpose of the role is to deliver and help further develop administrative and customer service support within the Environmental Health service and to support the Service Lead - Environmental Health & Car Parks and Principal Environmental Health Officers in achieving the priorities and objectives of the Council.

Key responsibilities:

Provide general administrative support to the Environmental Health Service including responding to customer enquiries through all channels, general administrative support, document management, and data inputting/reporting whilst effectively liaising with admin officers in other teams and sharing knowledge.
Deal with enquiries from the public and other customers and organisations, signposting to or giving general advice and information relating to the service, referring on to Officers or other services as necessary, and recording details of the exchange in the appropriate system.
Assist the Service Lead for Environmental Health and Car Parks by creating and producing a range of reports for monitoring the performance of Environmental Health Services and staff and to meet the Council’s reporting and disclosure obligations for statutory returns and performance reporting commitments.
Input to, update and maintain the Services databases and information systems and apply the system to the work of the team including setting up and running reports, supporting other system users and liaising with Strata to develop improvement and solve problems.
Take part in the review, redesign and implementation of appropriate changes to administration procedures which provide improvements in efficiency and improve data quality in your area(s) of responsibility. You may be required to train and develop members from the service as part of the effective introduction of changes to procedures.
Assist in setting up, developing and maintaining inspection programmes and other cyclical processes such as registration and licensing scheme applications relating to the work of the services for which you are responsible.
Ensure that your team deals effectively with enquiries from customers in a timely manner and in accordance with agreed performance standards.
Assist in designing and implementing a programme of customer consultation to provide regular feedback on service outcomes to managers, Principal Officers and the Service Lead.
Monitor and record the responses from your service area to all incoming correspondence.
Pay accounts and order of goods and services in line with current financial regulations and standing orders. Maintain an appropriate database of expenditure to assist in budgetary control and planning.

Qualifications:

GCSE’s grade C/4 or above in Mathematics and English or equivalent qualification / experience.



Skills & Experience:

Excellent customer service and organisational skills.
Sound numeracy skills with the ability to produce accurate and detailed reports/records.
Able to impart information to a range of audiences both verbally and in writing.
Evidence of practical experience in general administration.
Ability to work as part of a small team as well as on own initiative to deliver to deadline.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
