This role requires the post holder to manage a referral process into existing commissioned supported accommodation and identify a wide range of suitable accommodation options. You will also contribute to the development and promotion of the private sector housing options to prevent and relieve homelessness.
Responsibilities of an Accommodation Finder
- To provide an effective housing advice service within the Youth Hub.
- To make referrals to Commissioned Providers and work closely with external partners / agencies to process referrals and manage the Waiting list
- To work in partnership with the local housing services and other referring agencies to prevent a young person becoming homeless.
- To advocate on issues such as, benefits, housing rights etc. to ensure young people are fully supported through the application process and clear of expectations upon them.
- To work with the Home Options Team to manage all referrals to our Family Accommodation Units
- To support the Pathway Projects with Move on for young people who are not ready for semi- independent Accommodation
Requirements of an Accommodation Finder
- Up to date knowledge of welfare rights and relevant legislation including the Homeless Reductions Act
- Experience of working within the following areas: Youth Work, Residential or Social Work, Probation/Criminal justice, Community Work, Education and Training, housing or support work.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Social Care (or prepared to work towards)
- Available to start asap - temp position
