Summary
As an Occupational Therapist, you will carry out specialist assessments with each service user at the Langford Centre, a 76 bedded mental health hospital in bexhill on sea.
Using the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) as a framework, you will develop and implement occupational therapy interventions, focusing on daily living and vocational skills, in consultation/conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team and particularly the Lead Occupational Therapist within the hospital.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
o To manage a caseload of in-patients with mental illness who have a forensic history and/or behaviours that challenge
o To carry out assessments of activities of daily living to determine a patients level of functioning
o Carrying out Occupational Therapy intervention with patients. Planning individual treatment programmes specific to their needs.
o To take responsibility for the planning, facilitation and evaluation of the group OT programme within the service
o To provide a consultative role in the planning and delivering of a ward-based activity programme
o To provide OT interventions which are ward-based and community-based, promoting social inclusion and recovery
o To evaluate OT treatment and ensure outcome measures are recorded
o To take on the role of vocational lead within the hospital
o To provide clinical and management supervision to the wider OT team and Technical Instructors
o To participate in stock taking/ordering of required items within OT department
o To develop a knowledge of the local community and resources provided for people with a severe mental illness
YOU WILL NEED TO:
o Be a registered Occupational Therapist with HCPC
o Have previous experience of working as an OT in mental health / forensic / hospital setting.
