Nurses will have the opportunity to work in a leading specialist haematology centre, which runs one of the largest stem cell transplant (SCT) programmes in Europe, whilst also gaining experience in caring for patients with blood diseases such as leukaemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, sickle cell disease, aplastic anaemia, as well as, clotting disorders including haemophilia.

We also have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and ambitious nurse to join our large specialist haematology team, in a new and exciting hybrid Charge Nurse role (band 6), designed to support the haemoglobinopathy services for patients with sickle cell disease and thalassaemia. The post holder will be attached to a ward team but will also have protected time to work alongside the wider CNS and multi-disciplinary team to support the specialist patient pathways across the organisation and wider sector, working as an important link nurse. In addition we have developed a successful Ambulatory Care treatment pathway, which includes low-risk out-patient SCT treatment pathways. Within this framework, our nurses have the opportunity across the clinical areas to develop advanced skills in managing acute patients undergoing SCT that will include administration of stem cells, managing severe immunosuppression and neutropenic sepsis, developing essential skills in chemotherapy, symptom control including pain control and end of life care, as well as, having knowledge of research and clinical trials.
