Summary

Due to a promotion within the service, our North East Lincolnshire Speech & Language Therapy team is looking for a new team member to join us in providing our service to patients who require communication and dysphagia rehabilitation following stroke.

We are looking for an experienced SLT who is passionate about delivering high quality interventions and who is flexible, a good team player and embraces our Trust values of kindness, courage and respect. As an autonomous dysphagia practitioner, you will have access to our weekly Videofluoroscopy clinics held at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby. You will also be joining us as we develop our inpatient FEES service. There are opportunities to be involved in our outpatient aphasia groups, supported by other SLTs and our SLT Assistant Practitioners.

We are a flexible team and can discuss applicants’ preferences for community/ inpatient work at interview. We welcome applications from candidates who may wish to work part-time. Candidates with less experience may be considered for a B5-B6 development role.

You would be joining our friendly, supportive team which offers regular supervision, joint working, training and CPD opportunities to further develop your skills. You will provide clinical leadership to junior SLT colleagues and support student placements. You will be able to access support from Clinical Expert SLTs in Stroke, Acute Medicine, Rehabilitation Medicine, AAC, and Head & Neck Cancer.

The wider SLT service encompasses colleagues with similar roles in Scunthorpe, providing regular opportunities for joint working. Our inpatient dysphagia service will be expanding to include rostered Saturday and bank holiday working and this post would contribute to this quality improvement initiative.

The postholder is to both provide and support a high standard of care within Speech and Language Therapy, undertaking all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.

To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. To be responsible for providing a specialist service comprising assessment, management and treatment for adults with disorders of communication and swallowing (dysphagia) dependent on specific role.

To manage a defined caseload of patients using advanced evidence based/patient centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, including discharge planning and facilitation.

The applicant will need to have access to transport and the ability to safely transport yourself and equipment around the required geographical area during the course of their working day.

We’re a large organisation with three hospitals located in Scunthorpe, Grimsby and Goole. We also provide community services in North Lincolnshire. Our 6,500 members of staff care for and support a population of more than 400,000 people.

We encourage all our staff to innovate and adopt ‘best practice’ so we can deliver excellent care to our patients. We ask staff to live our values; kindness, courage and respect.

We are committed to recruiting the best people to work with us. You could be one of them.
