Summary

My son is a young boy and lives at home with myself and his two brothers. He has a very rare genetic condition called Leukodystrophy, retinol dystrophy and epilepsy. He is partially sighted and unable to walk or stand independently. He is open to learning and adapts well. He is a very happy boy with a big character. You would be reporting to me as your employer.


RATE OF PAY: 3 hours a week at £12 per hour + 45p mileage

Hours – weekday or weekend afternoons 12-3 pm (can be flexible to suit both parties)


REQUIREMENTS

• Support on a one-to-one basis and encourage him to build his skills through play
• Collect him from nursery
• Support him to access suitable play
• Take him to soft play areas
• To do art and crafts with him at home such as arts/crafts, reading, sensory play, block building
• Share ideas or concerns openly to mum and communicate effectively
• To support him to use the vision he has effectively and to introduce him to different textures and smells
• To support him to use his special equipment where appropriate (Special buggy, standing frame and walking frame)

RESPONSIBILITIES

• To mobility issues there will be moving, and handling involved. This will need to be done safely and kept to a minimum. You may need to provide personal care as he is still in nappies and to administer medication dependant of times.

Needs can vary on a daily basis; therefore duties and tasks may alter accordingly. You are reasonably expected to perform duties of a similar or related nature to those outlined above.

Desirable

• An interest in creative activities such as sewing, arts and crafts
• An understanding of autism
• Own vehicle/car driver with full driving license and business class cover


Essential

• PA needs to be kind, patient, caring and sensitive. Positive and of happy disposition
• Have an understanding of children with additional needs particularly in epilepsy, visual impairment or a willingness to learn about these conditions
• Reliable, enthusiastic, imaginative and share ideas that will help him to develop
• Will need to be physically able to handle moving and handling such as lifting his specialist buggy.
• Full clean driving licence required with business class insurance
• DBS clearance will be required
