Summary

Are you ready to take your next career step? Continued reconfiguration of services within the Trust has paved the way for an increase within Glenfield AICU's Management team! Come and be a part of a strong leadership team within this fast-paced rewarding environment!

AICU Glenfield is a dynamic and growing unit with emergency and elective patients. Your role will be to provide direction and inspirational leadership to the nursing and multi-disciplinary team within Intensive Care.

The Glenfield is one of three hospitals in the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL) and case mix includes Cardiac Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Cardiology, Respiratory, Thoracic, Renal and Hepatobiliary Surgery and the Unit is a National ECMO Referral Centre. The Intensive Care Unit has 33 beds with considerable expansion planned for the future.

The post holder, as an expert clinical practitioner, will be required to be an enthusiastic and integral member of our established and committed team, and to provide and supervise the delivery of excellent patient care.

Extensive evidence of ICU experience not essential for a secondment post, however evidence of Step 1 and 2 Critical Care Competencies signed off as minimum required.

There is potential for secondment opportunities. You are eligible for a seconded rather than substantive post if you are working towards but have not completed the ICU course.

Whilst working shifts, you must be committed to delivering a high quality service ensuring patient care, safety and experience is paramount. The successful applicants will be expected to participate in effective clinical leadership and management of the team in ICU and demonstrate an ability to manage their time by prioritizing and organizing their work efficiently.

Wider responsibilities include the provision of a supportive learning environment for continuing education; reporting to the Senior Sisters/Charge Nurses and supporting the wider organization; shift leadership; managing resources and information; coordinating elective and emergency activity, and the provision of care within the Intensive Care Service at UHL.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working in this environment and should ideally be able to demonstrate extensive experience working at Band 5 level in a critical care area. A period of supervision and structured training and support will be available and we can offer a wide range of development opportunities.
Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:
• high-quality care for all,
• being a great place to work,
• partnerships for impact, and
• research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
• we are compassionate,
• we are proud,
• we are inclusive, and
• we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
