Nottinghamshire Healthcare are delighted to bring to advert a position for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our specialist palliative care service.
Bassetlaw Hospice provides specialist palliative care to the population of Bassetlaw and North Notts through inpatient, outpatient and day services. Working along side a physiotherapist and assistant practitioner this role will provide day to day therapy support to our inpatients as well as supporting the development of our day services.
With recent introduction of a Lead Consultant and expansion of services this is a fantastic opportunity to join our specialist service at a time of real development. If you want to be part of a passionate and innovative service, then this is the opportunity you may have been looking for.
As the only occupational therapist in the immediate service you will work autonomously as well as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team. You will deliver specialist assessment of patients with highly complex functional needs who access our services as inpatients, outpatients and day attendees. You will also provide assessment and equipment support and advice to the wider hospice team and community colleagues.
liaising closely with health and social care colleagues to coordinate services, promote recovery from illness and enable health, wellbeing and self-care. You will be visiting patients within their own homes using a goal-orientated focus, to maximise patient’s independence, safety and quality of life.
The post will involve cross site working and community visits. A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.

You will manage your own caseload in the community. As part of the Community Therapy Team you will work closely with the rest of the MDT to provide the best possible outcomes for our service users in the locality.
You will have a degree/diploma in Occupational Therapy and be HCPC registered. You should possess excellent interpersonal and time management skills, be a good communicator and able to prioritise and work well as a member of a team. An induction period and supernumerary support will be given. You will need to have current UK experience of working in the NHS at Band 5 level and a full UK driving licence.
