Summary

Thorn Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a leading logistics and transportation company dedicated to delivering excellence in service and efficiency to their clients. As they continue to expand their operations, they are seeking a dynamic and experienced Onsite Manager to join their team and oversee the day-to-day management of all drivers and logistics operations at their Manchester depot.

Job Description: As the Onsite Manager for our logistics operations, you will be responsible for the efficient and effective management of all drivers, departing routes, driver rota, on-the-road management, driver KPIs, and recruitment of drivers. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our transportation services and maintaining the highest standards of customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Driver Management:

Supervise and coordinate the activities of all drivers, ensuring adherence to company policies, procedures and health and safety.
Schedule and assign drivers to specific routes and tasks based on workload and priority.
Provide guidance, support, and training to drivers as needed to ensure safe and efficient operation of vehicles and compliance with regulations.
Route Planning and Management:

Oversee the development and optimization of departing routes to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
Monitor route performance and make adjustments as necessary to address issues and improve productivity.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely delivery of goods and services to customers.
Driver Rota Management:

Develop and maintain driver rotas to ensure adequate coverage and optimal utilization of resources.
Manage scheduling conflicts and ensure smooth transitions between shifts to minimize disruptions to operations.
On-the-Road Management:

Conduct regular check-ins with drivers during their routes to provide support, address concerns, and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Respond promptly to any incidents, accidents, or emergencies involving drivers or vehicles, implementing appropriate procedures and reporting mechanisms.
Driver KPI Management:

Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for drivers and monitor performance against these metrics.
Analyze KPI data to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance driver performance and efficiency.
Recruitment and Training:

Lead the recruitment and selection process for new drivers, including sourcing candidates, conducting interviews, and facilitating onboarding procedures.
Develop and deliver training programs for drivers to enhance their skills, knowledge, and compliance with regulations.
Qualifications:

Formal qualification in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (preferred).
Proven experience in logistics operations management, with specific expertise in driver management and route planning.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills, with a focus on achieving results and continuous improvement.
Knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Full UK driving licence - no more than six penalty points.
Pass CRB and Drug and Alcohol Test.
