Summary


At the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital (MREH) we offer a unique range of services to the Northwest, treating and managing the simplest to the most complex conditions and diseases. For our nurses, it means the chance to gain diverse experience in pioneering teams within ophthalmology.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join the Macular Treatment Centre (MTC). It is a requirement to work a flexible shift pattern and across sites to support the MTC@ North, MTC@ Trafford and MTC@ South Manchester to meet the needs of the services.

Candidates should also be able to influence and negotiate effectively at all levels, have excellent organizational skills, the ability to use their own initiative . You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team you will be expected to demonstrate in depth knowledge and clinical expertise. You will also be expected to demonstrate a sound understanding of the issues relating to the identification, assessment, treatment, and management of this specialist client group.

Interested candidates should have highly effective interpersonal skills including the ability to work with a diverse team of professionals. Candidates should also be able to influence and negotiate effectively at all levels, have excellent organizational skills and the ability to use their own initiative.

The post holder will assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of patient care in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner. Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the clinical governance process. Act as a mentor/preceptor to junior staff, with specific responsibility for pre-registration students. The post holder will take delegated responsibility for the management of the clinical team and the maintenance of high standards of quality patient care on a shift basis.
