About the Role

Base Location: Flexible Scotland | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will however need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSE offices or depots across Scotland.

We are seeking to recruit two Commercial Solicitors with pragmatic and commercial legal focus to join our well established SSEN Transmission legal Team.

The SSEN Transmission Legal Team supports the SSEN Transmission business which owns and operates the electricity transmission network in the north of Scotland, transporting energy from where it is generated to where it is needed, providing a safe and reliable supply of electricity to the communities it serves. Home to some of the UK's greatest resources of renewable energy, SSEN Transmission is playing a critical role in the transition to a low carbon future, developing, building, maintaining and operating a network for net zero.

This is an exciting and strategically important time for our business as we deliver an ambitious business plan to maintain and grow the north of Scotland transmission network. You will work with colleagues across the business including project delivery, asset management and operations, procurement and regulation whilst advising on a variety of construction and commercial matters. You will provide proactive and pragmatic legal advice on a range of commercial, construction, regulatory and procurement matters and ensure legal risks are understood and managed. What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we'd love you to have:

- A qualified solicitor in Scotland with relevant PQE of around 0 - 5 years.

- You should have the ability to work on your own and within a team.

- Good negotiation, drafting, communication and interpersonal skills and a desire to work in-house as part of a key business support function are essential for this role.

- An ability to build strong working relations with clients, stakeholders, external Legal Counsel and the wider SSE Legal team.

Periodic travel between our offices throughout Scotland is expected.
