Permanent - Band 7 Team leader of the lower limb elective orthopaedic physiotherapy team

We are looking for a knowledgeable, compassionate and caring individual for this role as band 7 physiotherapist and team leader at city hospital. The post holder will lead the physiotherapy service alongside the clinical lead band 8a physiotherapist and other band 7's.

This service covers:-

Inpatient beds on either Harvey, Edward and Oxten wards on the city campus

Lower limb consultant clinics on the city campus

Physiotherapy outpatients at the city hospital

Alongside a direct patient-facing caseload, team leadership will include supporting the team to offer high quality patient care by monitoring performance, taking an operational role in service development and workforce planning, supporting supervision, development conversations and ensuring we have resources and equipment required for our roles.

Development opportunities include peer support from band 7’s across the wider orthopaedic team, plus support from the clinical lead physiotherapist for elective orthopaedics and the therapy services manager through supervision, informal mentoring and appraisal.



This post requires a deep knowledge of the management of lower limb elective orthopaedic conditions as well as wide range of orthopaedic experience.

Core responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Leading the physiotherapy service

Providing a supportive and learning environment for team members under your direct management including undertaking annual appraisals and managing health and wellbeing

Contributing to the education and teaching of students, preceptees and therapy support workers, including training new staff for weekend duties when required

Alongside the wider inpatient team, supporting the management and participation weekends and the bank holiday service.

Ensuring high quality, evidence based practice, service development and education underpin the service delivery.

The Physiotherapy service is part of the Therapies and Rehabilitation Services pathway, which is one of the pathways that together make up the Clinical Support Division at NUH.

We are a diverse pathway of AHPs and support staff, employing over 800 staff, working together to deliver the high quality care we aspire to. Our HCPC registered AHP professionals comprise of physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, orthotists, prosthetists and speech and language therapists.

We have a Chief AHP to lead us on our strategic direction, and many of the pathway leadership team have pathway AHP backgrounds to support our staff. There are also Practice Development Therapists to support career development for all.
