Summary


Kernowflex (Bank) Chaplain

This is an opportunity to join the chaplaincy team at the Royal Cornwall Hospital via Kernowflex, the in-house bank.

The chaplain will have an open approach within an ecumenical team of ordained and lay women and men. The chaplain will work collaboratively to provide a flexible, responsive service of spiritual, pastoral, and religious care to patients, visitors, and staff, whatever their beliefs, culture, or lifestyle.

Conducting relevant religious/non-religious rites of passage as required.

Having the emotional strength to cope with challenging pastoral situations.

Offering staff support as a vital component of chaplaincy, both on an individual basis and to teams/groups.

Collaborating in an interdisciplinary health setting with other healthcare professionals to provide an available, accessible service based on choice.

Cooperating and working with medical, nursing and management staff

Liaising with leaders of local faith communities, fostering and maintaining effective links

Organising and participating in acts of worship/study days, etc, when required.

Promoting and modelling good working practices and relationships

Being available to offer pastoral care to staff individually or in groups as requested by the Lead Chaplain

This is a zero hours bank post.

You will contribute to the working of the Trust by
• understanding and being committed to the strategic aims of the Trust.
• developing knowledge of the NHS in general and RCHT in particular
• attending any relevant committees and working groups at the request of the Lead Chaplain
• following Trust policies and procedures
• being able to communicate verbally and in writing, with all levels of staff within the Trust.
• undertaking mandatory training
• attending and participating in appropriate Trust activities
• taking responsibility for the health and safety of self and others as appropriate
• raising the profile of the Trust and Chaplaincy in the community as requested by engaging with local organisations such as faith and belief groups.

Other Responsibilities:
• to take part in regular performance appraisal
• to undertake any training required to maintain competency, including mandatory training, e.g. Manual Handling
• to contribute to and work within a safe working environment
• the post holder is expected to comply with Trust Infection Control Policies and always conduct him/herself in such a manner as to minimise the risk of healthcare-associated infection.
• as an employee/bank worker of the Trust, it is a contractual duty that you abide by any relevant code of professional conduct and/or practice applicable to you. A breach of this requirement may result in action being taken against you (following the Trust’s disciplinary policy) up to and including dismissal
