Summary

Job title: Workshop / Day Opportunities Support Worker

Location: Croft Community, Highfield Road, Malton, YO17 7DB

Purpose: Working as a part of the workshop team to support the People We Support to access the opportunities for work and development that exist in the Kingfisher Café and garden, texts, crafts enterprise and other workshops run in the Croft and local community.

Salary: £11.45 per hour.

Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday to Sunday rotating shifts.

We have an opening for you to join us as a Workshop Support Worker at our beautiful Croft Community, on the edge of the beautiful market town of Malton North Yorkshire. If the following appeals, we’d love to hear from you.

Who are we looking for?

  • Experience working within a catering or retail workshop setting, working with plants and gardens and experience in craft/textiles or production work is desirable.
  • You’ll ideally have a few years of previous experience of working with people with learning disabilities.
  • You’ll ideally have a working knowledge of health and safety and safeguarding.
  • Good level of IT skills including proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point.

What are the main responsibilities of this role?

  1. Support the People We Support to take advantage of the meaningful opportunities within the Croft workshops and, where appropriate, support the obtaining of accredited qualifications and learning, development and progression.
  2. Work to the risk and needs assessments and support plans of the People We Support so that they can take part in, and meaningfully contribute to, the workshop activity and have the opportunity to experience variety and progression.
  3. Support the operation of the workshops so that, where practicable, they operate in accordance to the Trusts’ ethos and provides produce of a high quality within the production timescales necessary to meet the needs of the community and for retail purposes.
  4. When trained, from time to time, supervise the workshop and those who work there.
  5. Work within the appropriate policies, procedures, practices and controls and ensure that appropriate recording and reporting arrangements are used to support and evidence the meeting of the Trusts’ contractual and regulatory requirements, having particular regard to health and safety requirements.
  6. Keep all appropriate records and information in an orderly manner and on a timely basis, provide any information and documentation required to prepare regular reports on the workshop activity as required to help make sure there is timely and accurate information available about the workshop.
  7. Undertake such other tasks as required individually or with others to develop or maintain the high quality of service required to fulfil the vision of the community, including by example by actively participating in meetings and in relevant training and assisting the Workshop Managers in organising the workshop to support festivals etc.
  8. Work cooperatively with colleagues and assist when they need support.
  9. Complete work to a high standard, focusing on the People We Support.
