This will be discussed at Interview.

Our hospitals are located in London and are 20 minutes train journey from central London. Our hospitals are located in vibrant areas of London with excellent schools, shopping and leisure activities on offer locally. We are also 2 hours by train from Paris! Having been recently lifted off special measures, our next target is to reach outstanding level of care for our patients and by applying for this post you can join us on our exciting journey.

We are a specialist Trauma Centre with close links to the helicopter services. We are also a major cancer and neurosciences centre with high quality hyper-acute stroke services. Queens Hospital is a Major Trauma Centre with attendances of around 96,000 patients per annum, while the ED at King George Hospital sees over 76,000 patients each year.

We aim to deliver outstanding care for our patients and provide the best working environment for our staff. As a Trust there is a lot to be excited about, we are on a journey of improvement and are extremely proud to be one of only five Trusts in the country selected to take part in the Virginia Mason Institute Programme to transform the care we provide for patients. Uniquely we are also a national Vanguard site, the only one in London, which will help spearhead transformational change in urgent and emergency care.

Please refer to our Emergency Department “Why you should join us” guide for further information of what you can expect from us as a Department.
For informal enquiries and or visits (which we encourage), please email Gemma Gola, Medical Workforce Manager - Emergency Medicine, gemma.gola@nhs.net If you are interested in this opportunity please apply online via Trac Jobs.

Under the leadership of our Chair Jacqui Smith and Matthew Trainer, our Chief Executive, we provide care for the residents of three of the most diverse London boroughs. More than half of our 7,500 strong workforce are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups and most live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge. We also provide healthcare services to people in south west Essex, and specialist neurosciences services to the whole of the county.

Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals, operating from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic, and Harold Wood Polyclinic. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London.

As we recover from Covid-19, we’re proud to be leading the way nationally in reducing the time our patients wait to get the treatment they need. The pandemic provided the drive for our teams to innovate and change.

We know we have more work to do to improve waiting times for urgent and emergency care, and our performance against the four-hour emergency access standard remains challenged, in comparison to many other London trusts.

We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We’re also pleased to be part of the NEL Cancer Alliance.

If you want high quality training that will enable you to fulfil the requirements for the acute care common stem (ACCS) to enable you to pursue a career in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia or Acute Medicine while gaining practical hands on experience in patient care in a supportive and team working environment, our Emergency Medicine Departments are likely to be the place for you to come and train.
