Summary


Working as a Health Care Support Worker (Band 2) at UHBW, one of the largest acute NHS trusts in the South West is an immensely rewarding job which makes a real difference to patients’ lives. You will be working alongside a registered Nurse to provide basic nursing care for adult patients.

You will need to be an excellent team player and have a passion for high quality, patient centred care. Working at an acute NHS Trust is challenging and you will need to be able to adapt and change according to the demands of the role.

Previous experience in a HCSW role is desirable (ideally in an acute setting) for a Band 2 Health Care Support role. For candidates new to Healthcare, we offer a Band 2 “new to care” HCSW role.

When you start with us, you will be offered supernumerary period to provide you with all the support you need to get you off to a flying start.

Working as a Healthcare Support Worker on the adult inpatient wards at Weston General Hospital, you will be involved with direct patient care whilst maintaining the privacy and dignity of patients. You will be supported and supervised by a Registered Nurse, Nursing Associate or Senior HCSW.

You will be:
• Helping your patients with daily living tasks, including such washing and going to the toilet (hygiene & continence) or helping with their meals (nutrition).
• Helping with mobility needs and providing pressure area care.
• Providing emotional support to patients and their families.
• Providing one to one observation for patients who present a high risk due to clinical condition.
• Ensuring that the ward environment is clean and safe preventing infection and falls.
• Escorting patients to different departments such as x-ray
