A Vacancy at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and driven Advanced Senior Surgical Care Practitioner to join our established team here at St George’s University Hospital. Ideally, we are looking for an experienced Senior Cardiothoracic Surgical Care Practitioner who has gained experience in endoscopic vessel harvesting with a proven track record in this area (Band 8a).

However, we will also consider trained Cardiothoracic Surgical Care Practitioners who have completed their MSc but have not been able to gain exposure and training in endoscopic vessel harvesting techniques (Band 7). We will offer the candidate a comprehensive training opportunity with supervision and support. Once this period is complete and competencies signed off the person will be given a promotion to band 8a.

St George’s is home to one of the largest cardiac centres in the southeast of England.

We carry out more than 700 cardiac surgery operations every year, and provide services for people living in southwest London, Surrey, as well as further afield.

We have a team of seven consultant cardiac surgeons, who work as part of a multi-disciplinary team that also involves cardiologists, specialist nurses, anaesthetists, therapists, plus many more.

Our cardiac surgery teams provide the full range of adult cardiac surgery operations, including heart bypass surgery, mitral valve repair, replacement, aortic valve repair and replacement and major aortic surgery. We also provide pre-operative and post-operative care.
