About Us: At Hays Recruitment, we specialise in connecting talented individuals with rewarding opportunities. We are currently seeking an experienced 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team and support a pupil in a Reception class with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and limited language skills.
Role Overview: As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the child, providing personalised support to enhance their learning experience. Your role will involve:

  • Individualised Assistance: Supporting the pupil throughout the school day, ensuring their specific needs are met.
  • Communication Support: Facilitating effective communication and interaction.
  • Behaviour Management: Implementing strategies to promote positive behaviour.
  • Curriculum Adaptation: Tailoring activities to suit the child's learning style.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Team.


Requirements: To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Experience: At least 3 months of experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in a similar 1:1 support role.
  • Understanding of Autism: Familiarity with ASD and strategies to support children with autism.
  • Patience and Empathy: A compassionate approach and the ability to build rapport with the child.
  • Effective Communication Skills: Proficiency in verbal and non-verbal communication.
  • Teamwork: Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a positive learning environment.


Key Details:

  • Hours: Part-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
  • Start Date: 15/04/2024
  • Contract: Temporary, term time only.
  • Enhanced DBS Check: Required
