Summary

Are you an enthusiastic, motivated, considerate and patient individual who wants to make a difference to the lives of adults with learning disabilities? Then join us at Canterbury Oast Trust as a SUPPORT WORKER based at Homelands in the rural village of Aldington, Nr Ashford, Kent.

Homelands, a listed building, supports 6 individuals (40-52 years old) with mild to severe learning disabilities, requiring support from promoting independence to full personal care.

THE ROLE

Support adults with learning disabilities, delivering quality care based on individual needs using a person-centred approach in the role of a Support Worker.

Support Worker role involves varied shifts on a rota, including sleep-ins, long days, weekends, and bank holidays. Typical Support Worker shifts may be 8:30am to 10:30pm sleep in shift (Sleep 7am - 9am), or a long day which is 8am to 9pm. Day shifts are used when needed to cover 1 to 1 hours. You will provide personal care to both male and female service users with a variety of needs.

Support individuals in community activities, creating a safe environment that fosters value, potential, and nurtures aspirations in their day-to-day life.

IDEALLY YOU WILL NEED:

o An appreciation of the needs of people with learning disabilities
o To be considerate, patient, self-motivated, enthusiastic, respectful, non-judgmental and professional
o To be flexible as hours include short days, long days, weekends and sleep-ins as rostered
o Sound interpersonal skills
o Good verbal and written communication skills plus basic IT and report writing skills
o No qualifications needed; undertake Care Certificate at COT during induction, work toward NVQ/Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care within 18 months of starting
o Driving licence essential for our rural location; transport service users to activities/appointments using a pool car.
