Summary

Applications are invited for the permanent, full-time post of Academic Liaison Librarian at Oxford Brookes University. The successful candidate will join our highly-regarded Health and Life Sciences (HLS) team and will support students at our Headington campus (and Swindon on occasion as required). The post covers HealthCare subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including Nursing.

The candidate must be educated to first or postgraduate level in library and information studies, or have equivalent experience, and have excellent communication and information retrieval skills.

The successful candidate will be highly competent in effective online searching across a range of subject areas and delivering information literacy training, both face-to-face and online.

Key responsibilities will include:
● delivering synchronous and asynchronous information literacy teaching, both face-to-face and online, to small and large groups
● providing 1-2-1 coaching and online support to undergraduates, postgraduates and researchers on finding and use of appropriate information resources
● developing guides, video tutorials, Web pages and other supporting materials
● liaison and communication with staff and students through subject committees and other fora
● developing close links with academic staff within supported departments to embed information literacy teaching and supporting up-to-date constructively aligned reading lists
● management of the (e)book budget for designated subject area(s) and contributing to decision-making about future spending
● stock management in the designated subject areas, including weeding according to the Library’s schedule and targets
