Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Surgery Division. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic person who will be responsible for enabling and reporting on the work patterns of consultants, senior and junior doctors and for being the subject matter expert in the development of medical rotas that meet the needs of both the medical staff and the delivery of patient services.

Working in collaboration with both administrative and clinical staff, the post holder will work towards achieving an accurate and detailed knowledge of the department. Duties include liaising with Consultants, Junior Doctors and Clerical Teams to ensure there is no gaps in the service we provide to our patients.

This position will be ideal for a passionate team player dedicated to providing the highest level of service expected within this division.

The Surgery Division covers the three acute Trusts in the Mid and South Essex locality (Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust, Southend University Hospital NHS FT and Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS FT, in addition to CCG’s). You will generally be expected to undertake your normal duties at the principal place of work (Basildon Hospital), however, in the course of your duties you may also be required to work at any of the sites within the MSB Group area as well as other NHS sites as part of the delivery of the service.

To be responsible for the planning, update, maintenance and distribution of medical staffing rosters across the Trust. Ensuring rosters are providing adequate safe cover and are always compliant with the European Working Time Directive and the New 2016 Junior Doctor Contract. The main areas of responsibility will be Breast, General Surgery and Urology as well as junior doctors on call rota.

You will act as the key point of contact for Junior Doctors and Consultants in relation their rosters ensuring compliance with EWTD and the Terms and Conditions of service for Junior Doctors.

You will attend weekly meetings to ensure the timetable is up to date and that all on-call shifts are covered.

The post holder will be the main point of contact for any medical staffing and timetable-related doctors and management queries.
