This would be a fantastic opportunity for an HCPC registered Clinical Scientist to develop their experience and expertise in all areas of Radiotherapy. Pre-registration physicists on recognised training routes who are close to registration would be considered for appointment at a lower band.

You will join the friendly team of Scientists, Dosimetrists and Engineers in the Radiotherapy Physics Group . The department is equipped with 7 linacs over 2 sites supported by Pinnacle and Elements TPSs to provide a comprehensive service. All our linacs have IGRT and SGRT capability and we had new HDR brachytherapy equipment installed this year.

We have an active Scientific Computing group supporting innovative solutions to progress efficient automated workflow. We are the only centre in the UK providing Intra Operative Radiotherapy with an Electron Accelerator and also provide physics services to breast Intra Operative Radiotherapy.

What you’ll do

Work would include supporting delivery and development of stereotactic services, QA and commissioning of equipment and new techniques. Dedicated time for research and development work will be given to support the many ongoing projects in the department. Service development and innovation are at the core of our work and staff are encouraged to attend and present their work at National and International meetings. The department has a diverse, friendly workforce which actively engages in CPD such as Departmental Seminars to share learning. The post holder will also contribute to teaching and training. The department is an accredited training department for Modernising Scientific Careers STP and HSST programmes as well as IPEM training for Clinical technologists and route 2 for Clinical Scientists.

Our ideal candidate is an HCPC registered Clinical Scientist in Radiotherapy Physics with an enthusiasm to contribute to the Radiotherapy Physics service delivery and development. Pre-registration physicists on recognised training routes would be considered for appointment at a lower band.
