Summary

Sawston Nursery is a non profit making charitable organisation where our team of dedicated staff support children's learning and development from 3 months to 4 years.

We have an exciting new role in the Nursery for a Room Leader, on a permanent, full time basis . We are flexible with the start date, if you would prefer to bring the start date forward.
Room Leader Toddler Room
Responsibilities Include:
To lead and support a team of practitioners with the everyday running of the pre school room.
Contribute to the overall management of the Nursery by assuming senior management responsibilities and working closely and co-cooperatively with the Head and Deputy Head of Nursery.
Be a reflective practitioner
Assist in the establishing, maintaining and development of a safe, educational ‘Learning through Play’ environment to enable each child to extend his/her potential, through the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
Co-ordinate the planning and recording of activities with your team and ensure your environment reflects the EYFS curriculum and child’s interests.
Implement policies and practices ensuring the individual needs of each child are met.
Responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of each child at all times, being aware of Health and Safety issues.
Model ‘Best Practice’ to your team and ensure information is shared.
Liaise and communicate with parents, reporting on each child’s well-being and development through face-to-face conversations and Tapestry.
Be aware of any areas of support required by room staff member (float or permanent) and be available to listen and guide as necessary.
Responsible for overseeing the training of your team and students who may be on placement in your room.
Listen to/ be willing to try out new ideas put forward by room staff to ensure a ‘team focused’ environment.
Willing to attend all staff meetings and accept training opportunities offered.
Prepared to take on any relevant duties determined by the employer from time to time.
Responsible for supporting the staff working within your team.
Keep training up to date wherever necessary.
Essential Skills
Must hold a level 3 qualification in childcare and be prepared to take on further training.
Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding and Food Hygiene (Training can be organised).
Have a sound knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
At least 2 years’ Childcare experience essential.
Lead and manage a team effectively.
Knowledge of the OFSTED Standards.
Have a clear understanding of the statutory welfare requirements.
