Summary

We are seeking to appoint experienced Doctors at Senior Clinical Fellow [SCF] / Registrar grade in Emergency Medicine with an area of special interest. Applicants are invited to apply for this range of SCF posts which are75% clinical and 25% non-clinical.

Clinical fellow posts are available in the following areas of specialty:
• Simulation
• Transformation

This is an excellent opportunity for doctors to maintain clinical work but also to have time in their schedules dedicated to areas of interest to them. We see this as a way of sustainable working whilst also building on CVs and experience.

Clinical duties will involve daytime, evening and night shifts providing clinical care in the Resus, Majors, Minors and Paediatric ED. Wexham Park Hospital has a very diverse population, and we see a wide range of clinical pathology. As a Senior Clinical Fellow, you will be involved in the initial assessment and resuscitation of sick patients including emergency procedures and investigations. Overnight you will be expected to lead the department, working closely with the Nurse-in-charge and providing support for more junior doctors.

Frimley Health is a leading innovative NHS Foundation Trust serving a diverse population of over 800,000 people with a catchment area across six counties. Wexham Park Hospital is a busy DGH with a catchment population of approx. 475,000; it offers a full range of services, from its new state of the art Emergency Department.

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest Acute Trusts in the South East, which became amalgamated in October 2014. The Trust was formed by the acquisition of Heatherwood and Wexham Park by Frimley Park. Frimley Park was the first Trust in the country to be rated as ‘Outstanding’ overall by England’s Chief Inspector of Hospitals in September 2014. Wexham Park Hospital received a “Good” overall rating from the CQC in February 2015, and the Emergency Department is rated as “Outstanding”.

The Emergency Department is located within a brand new purpose-built Department (opened April 2019) with Acute Medical & Surgical Assessment Units.

As a Senior Clinical Fellow in the Emergency Department, you will have the opportunity to be involved (along with more senior staff) in the initial resuscitation of seriously ill or injured patients to include investigations, and any practical procedures that may be necessary. Also, you will provide care to those with less serious conditions.

You will participate in a 24-hour rota with our other doctors, on a full shift pattern of work. You will obviously be expected to keep yourself fully up to date with the relevant areas of practice. The rota has been redesigned to optimize the work life balance and to provide designated time for clinical and non-clinical administration.

Applicants must have completed the Foundation Training programme and must have worked a minimum of 24 months as a Doctor in the NHS.

Full GMC registration at the time of submission of application is essential.
