Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Sister or Charge nurse to join the John Radcliffe Endoscopy Team in Oxford. If you are an existing Band 6 role with Endoscopy experience and looking to broaden your horizons by joining the every evolving and innovative team at the JR or if you are an experienced Band 5 Endoscopy nurse and are looking for the next steps in your Development.

The JR Endoscopy is one of the largest Endoscopy units in the UK and prides itself on pioneering new ideas for advancement in clinical practice, education and staff development.

The Unit was the first in the country to restart its Bowel Screening Program during COVID and was also one of the first to trial and start the new Endoscopy Nurse Education program Jets Workforce. The JR are also about to embark in a new development by becoming a regional Training Hub for Endoscopy.







An exciting opportunity has arisen for the development of two Band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge Nurses in the Endoscopy department at the John Radcliffe Hospital. We are a Centre for Excellence in diagnostic and cutting-edge therapeutic endoscopy, with ongoing research, development and expansion within our department.

We are a JAG accredited unit with six procedure rooms and an ERCP suite we also provide additional support to theatres, ED and the Children’s hospital.

The suitable candidates will be motivated and forward thinking, with a “can do” attitude. You will be an experienced Registered Nurse in Endoscopy who is enthusiastic about clinical excellence and the development and support of your team.

You will be able to demonstrate a real commitment to providing high quality and compassionate care. Working as part of a multi–disciplinary team you will have excellent communication skills and team leading abilities.

A key role of the Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse is to lead by example and be a role model for the rest of the nursing team. We want dynamic individuals who want to work in a team that provides high-quality compassionate care, and can demonstrate excellent leadership, communication and organizational skills. Promote effective interpersonal relationships with all members of the multi-professional team thereby ensuring a good team spirit and collaborative and person centred working.

Deputise for the Sister/Charge nurse in his/her absence, demonstrating a sound problem solving approach to clinical and management issues, seeking advice from senior nurses as appropriate practices.

Regularly act as shift coordinator, participating in the allocation of resources, ensuring effective patient care and safety on the ward.

Be proactive in undertaking specific responsibilities as delegated by Sister/Charge nurse, i.e. on a rotational basis with colleagues, take responsibility for off duty planning, work allocation and monitoring off annual leave and sickness/absence.
