Physical Training InstructorUK Defence AcademyShrivenham, SN6 8LAFull time – Permanent Competitive Salary

Serco have an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Physical Training Instructor at the Defence Academy in Shrivenham, Swindon.
You’ll implement and deliver the Physical Training Programme as directed by the MOD Physical Training Manager to all military personnel. You will assist in all the fitness aspects carried out at the Defence Academy.
Main responsibilities of the role include:


- Guide and advise all British Military personnel in accordance with the individuals Service fitness assessments, tests and standards as applicable.
- Supervise and coach sports and adventurous training as directed and qualified.
- Assist in the conduct of military Physical Fitness Assessments and Tests as directed and within the protocols of each assessment or test depending on service and input of results onto relevant databases and the referral of failures.
- Carry out basic office and gymnasium administration tasks; i.e. maintain registers, control gymnasium bookings, maintain accident book, maintain and update notice boards and other basic tasks as directed.
- Conduct inductions for all users, military and civilian within the guidelines of the Athletics Union, Health and Safety and Station Gymnasium Standing Instructions.
- Assist with Athletic Union Clubs, meetings and sports competitions.
- Ensure all requirements of Health & Safety and Environmental Protection policies are met and adhered to, particularly during supervised training sessions throughout the Gymnasium and sporting environments.
- Conduct fitness training for all military and civilian personnel within Shrivenham Station, as directed.
- Carry out Gymnasium administrative and functional tasks as directed; i.e. tidiness, cleanliness, servicing/maintenance of kit and accounting of stores in exercise rooms and equipment stores.
- Carry out all duties of daily Gymnasium routine in the absence of the MOD Physical Training Manager.
- Advise on sports to Shrivenham Station Clubs as necessary.
- Provide assistance or leadership to Shrivenham Station Sports and Fitness Clubs.
- Assist or advise military personnel on Health and Fitness matters.


What you need to do the job:


- Civilian, Member of the Chartered Institute for Management Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).
- IT Literate.
- Full driving licence.
- Current recognised first aid certificate.
- Indoor Cycling Instructor (Be willing to undertake and pass within three months if successful)
- Adventurous/ Fitness training qualifications (leader/instructor).
- Sports coaching qualifications.
- Health and Safety awareness trained with Risk Assessment knowledge.
- Familiar with military discipline and ethos (desirable)
- Be willing to attend and complete internal and external training courses.
