Rates: Up to £550 per day.

Site Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer required
Leading and executing electrical commissioning activities for a gas power project in the UK, until successful handover to the customer.

The scope of activities will be:

  • Hands-on commissioning of electrical components and systems such as, transformers, high and low voltage switchgears, DC systems, rectifiers, inverters, etc.
  • Familiar at using Primary & Secondary Injection test set equipment.
  • Carrying out testing on electrical systems and equipment, as well as system optimisation and troubleshooting and filling-in the respective commissioning documentation and protocols
  • Understands and executes the equipment clearance (LOTO) procedure, as well as Job Safety Analysis / Work Authorisation / Confined Space / Hot Work Permits.
  • Authorised for planning and executing LV electrical isolations.
  • Cooperation with internal team members, guidance and coordination of external partners and sub-contractors, interacting with customers.
  • Managing and leading the team of LV /HV electrical engineers, electrical supervisors, technicians, etc. Participate in the Plan of the Day meeting daily providing resourceful inputs on the work progress.
  • Ensure all the activities conducted on site follow the correct process in accordance with project requirements and in strict compliance with all EHS requirements.
  • Coordination of all necessary activities with all involved parties, such as commissioning team, erection team and sub-contractors
  • Participation in the walk-downs for Turnover from construction to commissioning, identifying open items that prevent system start-up.
  • Preparation and update of the commissioning procedures to be conducted on site.
  • Manage the documentation submission for project close-out.
  • Report to the Commissioning Manager and the Head of Commissioning
  • Provide theoretical and practical training to customer personnel.
  • Deputise Commissioning Manager in his / her absence.

You will need:

  • 7+ years working experience in power stations Electrical Commissioning activities with demonstrable experience in a leading role in projects of similar relevance.
  • BSc Degree, or BEng / HND in Electrical engineering
  • Strong team spirit, working with an international team and other cultures.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong Organizational skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Fluent spoken and written English
