Apprentice​ Painter

Location- Stoke on Trent – ST1 5SH – Based on site

Rates of pay higher than national minimum apprenticeship - £6.60 per hour minimum
Working hours 39 per week (Monday to Friday) (inclusive of day release)

What you can expect:

As a qualified Painter here at Novus, your role would typically be working alongside an experienced team of trade colleagues undertaking refurbishment works in customers’ homes, which may include Internal and External painting refurbishment programs,

We have two opportunities available working across our Midlands region, both will offer local pickups in Stoke on Trent and will require travel time to site.

The skills you would learn throughout your apprenticeship would include;.

Work Methods – Understand the purpose of a range of equipment & tools and how to use, store and maintain them safely and the reaction of materials to atmospheric conditions
Product & Specifications - Gain expert knowledge of product types, drying, curing, effects of colour, interpreting specifications and colour choices
Preparation & Removal – Learn preparation methods both traditional and modern, techniques of application, removal, wallpaper hanging and identifying substrates
Health & Safety – To learn the principles of health, safety and welfare and how these are applied in the workplace including handling hazardous substances
Team work - The role will give the skills and abilities to not only be part of a team but to play an active role within a busy team.
Stakeholder Management – Developing and maintaining relationships with Managers, Colleagues and Customers
​About you;

Ideally, you will have a GCSE in Maths and English (Grades A* to C/4-9), however, more importantly, you will have a passion for learning, a desire to work in a practical hands-on role, a great work ethic and a real can-do approach to everything you do. If you are already qualified, or studying towards a level 2 in Painting you wouldn’t be eligible to apply for this opportunity, as you already have the knowledge our Apprenticeship program is designed to provide.

The selection process will include;

First stage- Application review, where we will review and score your answers to the questions asked as part of the application process.
Second stage- Our Resourcing team will conduct a short telephone interview.
Final stage Assessment centre being held on Thursday 16th May 2024 (if selected you would need to be available on this date)
