Summary

Based at our site in Poulton-le-Fylde, we grow and produce fresh salad produce for manufacturers, the wholesale market and supermarket. We are looking for new member of our team to help and to adapt to new ways of working to ensure we are protecting our teams in the current climate, we are busier than ever, growing our product range and we want to ensure that all our operational functions are ready to proactively contribute to the site’s growth.

Role Details

Role: Grower
Hours: Monday to Friday from 07:45am to 04:00pm & alternate Saturday’s from 07:45am to 14:00pm (Flexibility desired) and alternate Sunday mornings (until tasks completed).

Competitive rates of pay, based on experience and expertise. To be discussed at interview.

Contract: Permanent

Job Description
The role involves the growing of different varieties of salad products, including salad cress, pea shoots and micro leaves, across 4 acres of production and glasshouse facility. Daily duties will be focused on the growth of the plants, recording harvesting and sowing and incorporating irrigation and feed management.
The successful candidate will be an accomplished and passionate Grower with a wealth of experience and knowledge ideally working with fresh produce. An extensive understanding of the entire growing process is desired, including an appreciation for all frequently used machinery. The candidate must have experience with managing such an area and product type. A thorough understanding of indoor growing techniques is desired.

Responsibilities will include:
• Work with a team to ensure excellent plant health
• Determine nutrient and watering/moisture requirements
• Control environmental conditions by regulating humidity, ventilation, and temperature
• Communicate cultural or crop issues to management immediately
• Responsible for troubleshooting crop issues and diagnosis of unknown health or damage problems
• Maintain records of crop activities and observations, including feed applications and growth records
• Know specifications for each crop
• Follow growing schedules using historical sales
• Help to troubleshoot greenhouse mechanical/environmental control systems
• Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by management

Skills & Experience
• Level 2 Food Safety Cert.
• Team player with strong awareness of targets and objectives
• Ability to lead by example and lead a team to achieve company objectives
• Proactive
• Reliability with a strong work ethic
• Problem solving skills
• Highly motivated with intellectual curiosity and rigour.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks with excellent time management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable:
• Level 3 HACCP
