Summary

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Support Worker to join our dedicated team based in Gwent. In this pivotal role you will be assisting and encouraging people in supported living to become integrated members of their local community, promoting physical and social participation.

Who will you be supporting?

Mirus means wonderful and extraordinary, and we are looking for wonderful and extraordinary people to support us, enabling us to live our best life and achieve our goals.

You'll be supporting one lady and two gents living in the Caerphilly area.

The one lady has an acquired brain injury so mental health experience would be beneficial but not essential. She can be forgetful and can get confused so needs someone patience to support her with remembering things. She loves going out shopping and uses a manual wheelchair to independently move around, but sometimes requires a hand in tough areas. In this role you will support to achieve goals and maximise independence.

The two males use non-verbal communication. They have a great sense of humour and love meeting new people. They like to be out in the community and hobbies include swimming, going out for meals, walking and music. One male has a computer he likes to use so basic IT skills would be beneficial.

What do the people we support have to say?

We like to go on holiday and need support when we go. The places we enjoy going are Tenby and Weston-super mare. Maintaining our health and wellbeing is very important to us - we have severe learning and physical disabilities and epilepsy.

We are looking to recruit Support Workers to work in our home, support us in the local community and in all aspects of our daily lives 24 hours a day (this will include all aspects of personal care and manual handling and administering medication).

Who are we looking for?

You will be friendly, confident and have lots of patience.
You will have a good sense of humour and take a gentle approach towards others.
We need someone who can help us with everyday living skills, which includes housework, shopping, finances, cooking and supporting us to a variety of health appointments.
We all own our own mobility cars so the ability to drive is essential, you must have a full UK driving license (international license isn't accepted) and be able to drive a manual car.
You will provide support with a range of tasks which may include household and domestic tasks, shopping, diet/food preparation, personal care, personal hygiene, dressing and personal appearance.
Our benefits include:

Fully funded and supported qualification – QCF Level 2 Health and Social Care (if not already achieved).
Paid work-related travel at 45p per mile between services.
Premium payments for sleep in and wake in.
Full training programme and opportunities for development and promotion. Including an Aspiring Managers programme.
24 days' Annual Leave, plus Bank Holidays. Increasing after 5 years' service.
Pension Scheme.
Cycle to Work Scheme·
Employee Assistance Programme.
A Wellbeing Hub.
Social Wales Registration and DBS paid for by mirus.
Once employed, a £300 employee referral scheme
