Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for Clinical Scientist in GI Physiology to join our established GI Physiology team to cover a period of maternity leave. Our multidisciplinary team sits within the GI Physiology Unit at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) and is comprised of specialist nurses, physiotherapists, clinical scientists, operating department practitioners, colorectal surgeons and gastroenterologists.

You will provide a full range of diagnostic tests including high resolution oesophageal manometry, 24 hour pH/impedance studies, wireless pH studies, anorectal physiology and hydrogen and methane breath tests. You will contribute to upper GI physiology and pelvic floor MDTs and provide diagnostic testing during one-stop consultant clinics.

You will be highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced in delivering high quality patient care. You will possess excellent communication and organisational skills.

- Provide specialist diagnostic GI physiology tests including performing, analysing and reporting of the test results

- Attend and contribute to MDTs as necessary

- Validate referrals

- Answer queries from patients

- Communicate with consultants regarding booking of patients or test results

- Troubleshoot problems with equipment and liaise with equipment suppliers to arrange servicing or repair where necessary

- Work as part of senior team to ensure smooth running of the department being able to make clinical and operational decisions autonomously

- Contribute to smooth running of the department including ordering/stock control of consumables and pharmacy items, ensuring appropriate booking of clinics, liaising with admin team
