Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the cardiovascular admissions team at St Thomas' Hospital. This post is a permanent full-time role.
This is an exciting and challenging role within the cardiovascular directorate in which the post holder would have an opportunity to make a direct positive impact on patient experience within the Trust.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the management of booking all inpatient admissions in line with the NHS 18 Week Patient Pathway and responding to patient queries via phone and email. The individual will be responsible for ensuring patients have had all the necessary pre-operative appointments.

The post holder must be IT literate, have previous customer service experience, and the ability to navigate trust IT systems, preferably have previous admission experience as well as monitor the utilisation of theatre lists and ensure they are fully utilised.
You will working in a very fast paced environment, and will be expected to action short notice changes to theatre lists, and schedule urgent elective admissions. The ability to prioritise your workload throughout the day to ensure all priority tasks are completed is necessary, patient care should be at the top of your values.
Vascular Admissions is a very busy and demanding service for both urgent and elective surgery. The role requires the ability to liaise with all disciplines of staff i.e. Directorate Managers, Consultants, Nurses and administrative colleagues. Attention to detail, multi-tasking, compassion and patience are ethics that would benefit you in this role.
The successful candidate will work well as part of a team, be professional and personable at all times, able to multi-task as well as being able to work under pressure. Candidates must be flexible to the needs of the service, attend meetings as and when necessary and have excellent communication skills.
Scheduling elective and inpatient admissions
overseeing theatre lists to ensure correct utilisation
answering and making phone calls to patients and clinical staff, internal and external
Managing mailboxes
dealing with difficult conversations with patients
Preparing and attending meetings
working in a very fast past environment
Rotating shifts between 8am - 6pm
Validating the PTL
