Summary
We have an opportunity for a Band 3 Peer Recovery Worker to join our exciting new Enablement Pathway which has been developed as part of the Mental Health Transformation. The multidisciplinary team works across North and South Warwickshire, and Coventry. We have three key service spokes; (1) supporting the repatriation of individuals from Out of Area placements, (2) supporting the successful stepping down of people from our local mental health rehabilitation units back into their communities and (3) supporting individuals in secondary care community mental health teams (CMHTs) to develop the skills to live successful, fulling lives within their communities. The spokes and service delivery have been developed jointly by Experts by Experience in collaboration with Experts by Training.
Due to the geographical area the service covers, we require the successful applicant to be a car driver with access to their own vehicle for work.
The team uses a Recovery, Strengths-Based philosophy to collaboratively identify the individual’s goals and needs and to support them towards achieving these. Many of our individuals experience difficulties with housing, finances, vocational activities and social inclusion and the successful applicant will be expected to work creatively, with our team members, other mental health and statutory teams and Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) colleagues to support the individual to achieve their goals.
A Peer Recovery/ Support Worker is someone who can offer emotional, practical support and skills, with lived experience of mental health challenges. We are looking for a candidate who possesses personal first-hand experience instead of just experience in caregiving, and willing to open up about their own mental health experiences.
Using your own lived experience of recovery to support people who are accessing these services, you will:
• evidence and show visible recovery; showing that change is possible, giving a strong message of hope and understanding.
• be a positive role model helping to inspire, motivate, guide and support our people to engage with services and work on their recovery.
It is essential to use your own personal lived experience of mental health services to offer emotional and practical support, helping people move to a positive, meaningful and fulfilled future. The ideal people will work alongside and assist dynamic multidisciplinary teams of workers providing support to members of the local community. This is an ideal opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive environment as you work alongside experienced senior staff and receive regular supervision within the service.
There will be a range of internal and external training opportunities. You will be in a position to develop the role and be a part of a service undergoing exciting organisational change. These posts are new to our service.

Applicants must:
• have lived experience of psychosis;
• have received support within secondary care mental health services;
• prior participation in the two-day Peer Worker training provided by the Recovery and Wellbeing Academy or other formal Peer Worker training or experience; and
• understand there is an expectation to undertake a further training provided by ImROC once in post. We are looking for someone with bespoke lived experience of psychosis.
