We are keen to expand our MDT to continue with the development of our psychologically informed pathways of care we offer to the women accessing our services; their babies, partners and family during the perinatal period (from pre-conception to 2 years of age).

We recognise that perinatal mental health is a specialist service and we are keen to invest in the development of new practitioners joining our service to develop their knowledge, skills, clinical practice, leadership and confidence in working in this area. We are therefore looking for applicants who either have experience in perinatal services or have a good foundation with transferable skills and an interest in perinatal work.

The post requires the candidate to provide well-formulated and evidence-based therapy, delivering teaching and training, developing and delivering group interventions, supporting MDT supervision, supporting with service evaluation and development projects.

For a Band 8a position we are interested in receiving applications from experienced Clinical Psychologists or Counselling Psychologist that may have additional qualifications and training, such as, BABCP accredited CBT, EMDR, Systemic and DBT.

Band 8a (and Band 7 preceptorships to Band 8a) psychologists are in positions of leadership within our perinatal services. We are looking for a motivated and committed psychologist who is passionate to lead the development of psychological therapies and the therapy pathways within our perinatal mental health services.

The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users. As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings.

The perinatal mental health service is committed to developing our workforce and offer the recruit to train model. We are able to provide training and supervision in EMDR with the intention to support the preceptorship (band 7-8a), once qualified. For a Band 8a position we are looking for a qualified Clinical or Counselling Psychologist with a training, qualification and accreditation in a second therapeutic model (desirable)

The role will be three days a week, 9.00-5.00 with an expectation that one of these days would be a Thursday to attend the team meeting. Although the role would generally be expected to work within normal working hours, the successful applicant would be expected to have the flexibility to work occasionally extended opening hours to facilitate early or late clinic appointments, home visits or training. Working locations will be a combination of community home visits, clinics and remote working.

The team works closely with Maternity, as well as with local community and inpatient mental health services, primary care services, social services and a wide range of other statutory and third sector organisations.

The applicant must have excellent clinical skills and experience with a wide variety of patient groups across the whole life span. In addition to the focus on maternal mental health, specialist perinatal mental health services also consider the family context and the infant and parent-infant relationship.

Applicants must have a proven ability to formulate, document, implement and review plans for the psychological treatment and management of women with a full range of clinical presenting problems.
