Summary

The NIHR Newcastle Clinical Research Facility (NCRF) provides dedicated purpose-built facilities and expertise for the delivery of high quality, cutting edge experimental research and early phase clinical trials. In February 2022 we were delighted to be one of the 28 sites across the UK to secure NIHR funding for the next 5 years, which will allow us to continue to develop, grow and deliver high quality research across our region.

We are a large and innovative multi-disciplinary team of approximately 100 clinical and research support staff. We support a broad portfolio of complex clinical trials as well as high throughput research studies incorporating disease areas such as infectious diseases, dementia, parkinsons, genetics, diabetes and gastroenterology.

A rare opportunity has arisen to apply for the position of Senior Research Sister/Charge Nurse within this innovative and exciting facility. Applications are welcomed from a registered general nurse or registered health care professional with a proven track record of managerial skills and a passion for leadership and success. We are seeking a candidate with substantial experience of working within relevant clinical specialty areas and/or the clinical research delivery landscape.

This is a full-time position with opportunities for flexible working to be considered on an individual basis.

Informal enquiries are welcomed, please contact Fiona Yelnoorkar

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced, and motivated leader who is forward thinking, dynamic and who can embrace innovative methods of study delivery.

The post holder will be responsible for the leadership and management of the clinical team, supported by 3 fellow Senior Research Sisters and 4 Junior Research Sisters. They will be responsible for ensuring that our staff are appropriately trained and developed to ensure that the planning and organisational requirements are in place to co-ordinate the successful delivery of multiple research studies at varying stages of development and will initiate and manage the clinical activities relating to these studies.

The studies are predominantly complex and require significant communication, organisation and time management skills to successfully delivery. The ability to facilitate collaborative working relationships and be a strong team player with a strategic vision is a must. A broad clinical background would be advantageous as the facility support studies from all disease areas, although training will be provided.

There will be a requirement for frequent cross-site working as dictated by service need.
