A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join a growing Freedom to Speak Up team as a Lead Freedom to Speak Up Guardian. This exciting opportunity will provide the ideal candidate with an opportunity to contribute towards the established positive engagement with all of our of teams, continuing our focus on improving our patient and staff’s safety and experience.

The team are currently working a split office/home-based arrangement, so you must be comfortable working remotely in addition to office based.

You must be a trained and NGO registered FTSUG

The post holder will be responsible for supporting our small team of guardians, collating reports, assessments, producing and delivering action plans, making presentations to senior leaders including trust board and continuing to develop our speaking, listening and following up agenda across the trust, working closely with internal and external partners and trust board to ensure concerns are dealt with fairly and efficiently and learning is embedded.

About Us

South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of emergency, urgent care and non-emergency healthcare services, along with commercial logistics services.

The Trust delivers most of these services to the populations of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire as well as non-emergency patient transport services in Surrey and Sussex.

We serve a population of over 7 million and answer over 500,000 urgent calls a year. We employ 4,551 staff who, together with over 1,100 volunteers, enable us to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.



The successful candidate will be able to organise their workload efficiently to meet deadlines. They will be self-directing and work independently within the Team structure, with the ability to establish and maintain effective communication with individuals and groups about difficult or complex matters, overcoming any problems in communication. The post holder will be reporting to the Executive Lead for Freedom to Speak Up, supporting the small team of Freedom to Speak Up Guardians and the growing number of Freedom To Speak Up Champions and liaising on a daily basis with external stakeholders as well as frontline clinicians, operational managers and corporate staff across the Trust.

The post holder will need to be able to manage priorities effectively and support continuous improvement in the quality of services. Appropriate knowledge, skills and experience are essential attributes.
