Summary


Consultant Paediatrician

Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust

12 months Fixed Term Maternity Cover - 10 PAs per week

We are seeking to appoint a Consultant Paediatrician to support the acute services at Ormskirk District General Hospital. This post is part of the acute service and will require the post holder to support an on call service, inpatient ward cover, neonatal ward cover and outpatient clinics.

We encourage applicants with an interest in Paediatric Respiratory, however this is desirable but not essential. Applicants with other specialist interests are also encouraged to apply.
• Provide clinical leadership
• Set standards of clinical care
• Participate in the development of acute child health services
• Promote integration between primary and secondary care services
• Promote preventative health
• The post holder will be expected to subscribe to the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health Continuing Personal Development (CPD) Scheme.
• He/she will also be required to keep abreast of current developments in acute and neonatal paediatrics.
• He/she will be expected to maintain APLS and NLS provider status.
• The post-holder will contribute to the hospital Paediatrician of the Week rota on a 1 in 10 basis.
• The post-holder will contribute to the Consultant on-call rota on a 1 in 10 basis. The acute on call duties of which comprises of covering the paediatric and Level 2 Neonatal unit. This includes a resident component in the evening until 8pm to help meet the RCPCH Standards. The shift is non-resident following from 8pm to 9am.
• The post-holder will contribute to the hospital Neonatal consultant of the Week rota on a 1 in 10 basis (9am to 5pm basis Monday to Friday).
• The appointee will work closely with paediatric colleagues to develop and improve general Paediatrics and community integrated care services for children.

The Secretary of State has approved the partnership between St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals and Southport & Ormskirk Hospitals.
