An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and dynamic highly specialist Cardiac Physiologist to lead the ever expanding and developing Echocardiography Department supported by a passionate clinical team.

Ourinternationally renowned Cardiothoracic Clinical Board provides secondary and tertiary Cardiac and transplantation services to the North of England and beyond.

The department is split over two sites and successful applicants will be expected to work across both sites.

We are BSE accredited and very proud of our physiologist led valve clinic and are currently developing a physiologist led bubble/contract service.

Applicants must have relevant transthoracic Echocardiography experience and be British Society of Echocardiography Accredited with the ability to work independently in the performance and reporting of transthoracic Echocardiograms.

• As a team lead for the echo department you will be expected to work collaboratively with leaders across the Cardiothoracic Clinical Board whilst providing a high quality ultrasound service regionally.
• This will include responsibilities around training and development, non complex rota management as well as prioritising work effectively to ensure consistent service provision.

• To lead and coordinate the echocardiography service
• To provide and develop a high quality ultrasound service to the Regional Cardiothoracic Centre in order to treat patients on both a regional and supra-regional basis.
• To specialise in displaying, interpreting and reporting independently detailed transthoracic ultrasound scans (echocardiograms) on a day-to-day basis, essential in the diagnosis and prognosis of patients across a wide range of services. To develop the regional Stress echo service and transoesophageal service.
• To train a wide variety of staff groups in the specialist techniques of diagnostic Cardiac ultrasound.
• To be flexible in working within other area when service needs demand

Please note it is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first month’s pay.
