Summary


We are very excited to announce that we are recruiting to the position of a Band 7 Maxillofacial Prosthetist/Reconstructive Scientist at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT) on a 12 month fixed term contract. The successful applicant will join our team manufacturing custom-made facial and body prostheses for our diverse range of patients.

The successful applicant will work across site (Guy’s and St Thomas sites), will be competent in all areas of maxillofacial prosthetics and will
be able to work autonomously to provide a high level of service to our patients and service users. They will participate in patient clinics,design and manufacture highly complex specialised maxillofacial prosthetics devices and attend multi-disciplinary team meetings when required.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual that enjoys working as part of a team, has excellent communication skills and can successfully manage achangingworkload.



The successful applicant will be part of a team of four maxillofacial prosthetists/reconstructive scientists and three orthodontic technical members of staff. We are a dedicated team, that take pride in the work we do and are continuously looking at ways to improve and develop the service that we provide to our patients. We have active links into research both within GSTT and King's College London and promote sharing our skills and knowledge by teaching students within the department, presenting at conferences and publishing academic papers.

The successful applicant will work closely with all members of the maxillofacial prosthetics/reconstructive scientist and orthodontic technical team as well as surgeons, consultants, clinicians, nurses and administrative staff within Dental and the wider Trust.

Applicants will work in direct contact with patients providing a range of highly complex custom-made prostheses including ocular prostheses, facial and body prostheses, keloid pressure splints and nasal obturators. The role also includes undertaking complex orthognathic surgical planning, 3D surgical planning, attending MDT's and assisting with development of the service as required.

We are looking forward to welcoming a new member to the team and would consider employing the right person on a part time basis. We will also consider applicants that have not yet sat their AIB with the IMPT.

The interview will comprise of a practical assessment in the morning followed by a formal interview in the afternoon.
