Summary


We are looking for a highly motivated Nurse Specialist, who is passionate about Rheumatology, to make a major contribution to the care of patients with rheumatological conditions in Homerton Healthcare.

The role includes responsibility for the development and co-ordination of the Rheumatology specialist nursing service at Homerton Healthcare Foundation Trust.

We will consider a Band 6 training post for this position with a view to fulfilling the Band 7 post training.

The post holder will be expected to conduct 4 -5 outpatient Rheumatology clinics per week at the Homerton Healthcare. They will need to be familiar with the assessment and management of patients presenting with early Arthritis patients with established inflammatory arthritis, patients on biological therapy and patients with fibromyalgia and other chronic pain syndromes.

You will also be expected to provide telephone advice to patients. There is also a coordination element to the role that requires working proactively with community teams to develop integrated care pathways.

You will have the key role in developing and auditing our local pathway for patients with Rheumatological conditions (NICE). This will include providing reports to the commissioners of the service. They will also be expected to develop and audit a system of annual review for patients with rheumatoid arthritis (BSR and BHPR guideline for the management of rheumatoid arthritis (after the first 2 years)) and to contribute to regular audits of patients on biological therapies.
