Day-to-day, you’ll run a mixed case load of inquests, claims and general advice matters. You will provide timely advice on legal matters to staff across the Trust, in all Divisions and to the Board. Work will cover a range of things including any issues that arise on inquest and claims matters and any general advice queries which often touch upon consent, safeguarding, behavioural issues, and medical treatment decisions. You will be responsible for the supervision of more junior team members.

You will be involved in making positive changes to Trust processes and guidance and sharing learning and themes from claims and inquests in order to support the Trust’s drive for quality and to improve patient safety.

General Policies Procedures and Practices:
To comply with all Trust policies, procedures and practices and to be responsible for keeping up to date with any changes to these.

A dynamic and experienced lawyer or paralegal you will be looking to take your next step in your legal career. This is a fast-paced and dynamic role, no two days are the same.

You’ll have a background of being a good litigator, with inquest experience or general advocacy experience. You will understand the importance of hitting deadlines, of following process, of running a case load properly but also be empathetic, kind and supportive.
