Aircraft Fitter-Wildcat RNAS Yeovilton, Yeovil BA22 8HTCompetitive salary plus benefits Full time/Permanent
Serco have an exciting opportunity for an Aircraft Fitter (Wildcat) be based at our site at RNAS Yeovilton located in Somerset. This role is responsible for the aircraft management and ground support to our Wildcat aircrafts. Serco are proud to support the Fleet Air Arm, including the Commando Helicopter Force based at Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton, delivering services ranging from the repair and maintenance of military aircraft
- to fuel delivery and off aircraft support services. Yeovilton is one of the Royal Navy`s two principal air stations, is one of the busiest military airfields in the UK and home to more than 100 aircraft. Main Accountabilities:


- Where required by Customer Regulations and Procedures employees are authorised to carry out contracted tasks.
- All contracted tasks are carried out in accordance with current Customer Policy and Regulations and other applicable statutory Regulations.
- Contracted tasks are completed in a timely manner.
- The WMF Serco Team Lead is made aware of all business risks.
- All verbal and written customer complaints and Quality issues are brought to the attention of the Supervisor or Team Lead.
- All employees will comply with:
- The Health and Safety at Work (HASAW) Act 1974.
- The Serco Management System.
- Where applicable Customer Policy and Regulations applicable to their grade and position.
- Company and Customer Environmental procedures.
- Company Equal Opportunities Policy.
- Other tasks within their capability are carried out as directed by the Team Lead or Serco Support Manager.
- Administration tasks are carried out as required by the Team Lead or Serco Support Manager.
- Further training courses necessary to their job are attended as required.
- Ensuring best practice and assurance of regulatory compliance by the reporting and communication of engineering, safety and near miss events.
- Monitoring hazards and ensuring risks, and issues are identified and quantified to their supervisor or Team Lead.
- They participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives and associated programmes when required.
- When deemed as qualified by the Team Lead or Serco Support Manager to do so and when requested, Fitters Mates and Apprentices are trained/mentored as a supporting task of the job requirement.
- To remain flexible and carry out any other tasks within their capabilities and experience in support of the Contract as directed by the Contract Manager or their representative.
- To promote Serco’s professional Company image in all liaisons with internal and external agencies.


What you’ll need to do the role:


- Attained formal training in the Wildcat aircraft and associated trade systems.
- Previous experience and a good working knowledge of the following:
- Wildcat Aircraft Engineering and Aircraft Systems (by Trade).
- Wildcat Aircraft Servicing and Support Equipment.
- Lean Operating Procedures.
- Naval Air Publications and Compound – Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (C-IETP).
- Health and Safety, the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations, Tool Control and Quality Practices.
- An understanding of Engineering and Asset Management Systems.
- Completed a Maintenance Human Factors Course.
- Understand rotary wing military (aviation) procedures.
- An understanding of Airworthiness Engineering Safety and Compliance iaw Regulatory and Legislative requirements (MAA).
- A capability to work productively, efficiently & effectively with initiative and drive under tight timescales and pressure whilst maintaining operational outputs.
