Summary
GSK Value Evidence & Outcomes for Global Health UK Summer Placement
Education required: To apply for this UK Summer placement, you must be/have:
- Enrolled at a UK or ROI university.
- Currently studying an MSc Degree or recently graduated with an MSc Degree in either Health Economics, Epidemiology, (Global) Public Health, or other subject other similar degrees.
Location: London. Aim to be in the office 2-3 days a week, depending on the working patterns of the team.
Salary: £14.36 per hour (37.5 hours a week)
Duration: 12 weeks
Start date: From June 2024

The purpose of Global Health is to unite science, talent and technology to get ahead of disease together by relentlessly pursuing equitable access to vaccines & medicines that can change the trajectory of high-burden infectious diseases in low and low-to-middle income countries (LICs and LMICs), enabling people to thrive. Global Health seek to progress our pipeline to prevent and treat priority infectious disease particularly those with antimicrobial resistance (AMR) potential.
The Value Evidence & Outcomes (VEO) department aims at defining the value of our pipeline through generation of Real World Evidence (RWE) and Health Economics (HE) to support decision making. VEO provides dedicated support to the GH organisation.
In your role, you will experience working with both the VEO department and GH organisation with a focus on understanding the external environment related to assessing the impact of AMR. During the internship, you will be supported and given training until confident to work independently.
What will you do:
- Map the external stakeholders (government organisations / consortia / public private partnerships / academic teams etc) working on measuring impact of AMR
- Identify and analyse available impact models or initiatives developed to measure the impact of AMR
- Summarise and compare the different approaches into a slide deck
- Establish a mechanism by which GSK can be regularly updated on the progress of these initiatives
- Make a recommendation on where GSK should be involved.
You'll need:
Essential:
- Experience in grey and literature search
- Understanding of epidemiology and health economics
- Curiosity, analytical skills, rigor
- Good communication
Desirable:
- Having conducted systematic literature review
- Experience in developing Health Economic models
- Interest in pursuing a career in the VEO space
