Summary


To support the provision of a range of assessments and interventions informed by a Positive Behavioural Support approach.

When indicated to undertake functional assessment of behaviours that challenge for clients eligible to the service under the supervision of the services behavioural support practitioner and/or clinical psychologists.

To work alongside clients, families, paid carers and other professionals to support understanding and responses to behaviours that are challenging in line with PBS principles, Positive & Proactive Care: reducing the need for restrictive interventions (2014) and NICE Guidance (including NG11 & NG93).

Interventions will include working across a variety of settings, including family homes, residential/supported living and day services and will involve working as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team.

To assist in delivering relevant interventions to increase the knowledge and skills of the appropriate stakeholders.

To work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and wider stakeholders to deliver on the Transforming Care Agenda and local delivery plan for clients supported by the service.
• To contribute, under supervision, the delivery of positive behavioural support informed interventions to people with a learning disability.
• Ensure a high standard of clinical care for the post holder’s clients, providing a comprehensive and appropriate PBS service to clients, families and paid carers.
• Play a key role in the assessment of clients who present with behaviours that challenge, undertaking both initial assessments and more detailed functional assessments.
• To provide a range of behavioural intervention strategies based on the functional assessment of a client's behaviours which are suitable for service users living with their families and/or support staff, this will include the development of Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
• Hold a clinical caseload, working under supervision, in collaboration with other agencies and as well as health and social care professionals.
• To undertake risk assessments and develop risk management plans either independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• To work with other members of the team on developing the knowledge and skill base around Positive Behaviour Support in the local borough – this may be for family carers, support staff, and/or other professionals. This may include working alongside staff that provide direct care to clients to enable them to develop their skills to work effectively with individuals with behaviours that challenge.

Other relevant duties as discussed with the Lead Clinical Psychologist.
