Job Title:Superintendent Mammographer Location:Jarvis Centre, Guildford Salary:Competitive Hours:37.5hrs per week Are you an experienced Breast Screening Radiographer looking for a new opportunity with the National Breast Screening Programme? We are currently recruiting foraSuperintendentMammographerto join ourBreast Screeningteambased at the Jarvis Centre in Guildford, Surrey. Breast screening the women of Surrey and NE Hants is carried out on a fleet of 5 mobile vans with additional capacity at Jarvis Centre. Assessment Clinics, held at the Jarvis Centre, are staffed by a dedicated multi-disciplinary team ofConsultant Radiologists,Associate Breast Clinicians, Advanced Practitioners, Mammographers, Assistant Practitioners and clinical and administration staff following the NHSBSP principles of triple assessment mammography/ultrasound, clinical examination and needle biopsy. What you will do: As a Superintendent Mammographer you will provide a high-quality imaging service to all users of the service and screen women for breast cancer by mammography. You will participate in assessment clinics including stereotacticbiopsies and participate in the support of development of assistant practitioners. What you are responsible for: Taking high quality mammograms Demonstrate active involvement in the recruitment, appointment, and induction ofnew staff Deal with day to day staff queries, liaising with appropriate support functions whererequired to resolve the queries within a reasonable timeframe Participating in the units Quality Assurance Programme and taking remedial action when necessary Preparing and assisting in biopsy procedures including targeting for stereotactic examinations Ensuring enough supplies are available at mobile sites and arrange transportation if necessary Being competent in the use of all clinical equipment used by the Service Keeping up to date with current trends and techniques in mammography Being able to deal with nervous or anxious clients Recording clinical observations Being confident and professional when positioning women who are naked from the waist up Being able to enter all quality assurance data on the computer Dealing with equipment malfunction and know when to suspend its use Maintaining a current CPD portfolio Identifying images suitable for teaching purposes Abiding by the Ionising Radiation Regulations.
