Summary
Perform full range of imaging examinations in CT across sites consistently to a high standard ensuring compliance with imaging protocols.
Manage radiographic, technical, admin & clerical staff and students, within a designated area.
Liaise with other staff, and to be responsible for the day to day organisation of the area/department in accordance with departmental protocols, providing management guidance during the absence of the Lead Radiographer
Requirements:
1. Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration as a Radiographer
2. Diploma/Degree of College of Radiographers
Successful candidates will participate in a full 24/7 shift system to include weekends and bank holidays
3. Specialist CT knowledge must be up to date and underpinned by theoretical and practical experience
4.. Ability to train other members of staff including all clinical staff at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
5. Advanced knowledge of CT safety aspects
6. Knowledge of contrast media, its effects and adverse reactions and contra-indications
7. Demonstrates an understanding and experience of working with performance objectives and organisation targets
8. Ability to review images, detect abnormalities and discuss further imaging with the radiologists.

1. To perform radiographic tasks and imaging, in line with governmental and departmental protocols, working both alone and within radiology and multidisciplinary teams.
2. To check patient identification and documentation, and ensure the appropriate radiographic examinations are carried out in accordance with departmental protocols and clinical requests, especially implementing departmental safety protocols
3. Operating static scanners assessing patient's needs adapt and modify imaging techniques according to the patient's condition. Attending to patients' welfare and safety at all times.
4. To evaluate scanned images taken for diagnostic quality, and alert clinicians of any abnormality when appropriate.
5. To participate in the departmental Quality Assurance programme to ensure the efficient operation of the highly technical equipment, and to ensure compliance with best practice especially with reference to minimising radiation exposures within CT.
6. To be familiar with, understand and apply the principles of Radiation Safety, both nationally and locally regulated or protocol led.
7. To give theoretical instruction, practical guidance, and supervision to less experienced staff, Student Radiographers, Assistant Practitioners and trainees.
8. To assist with the practical experience of newly inducted staff
9. To participate in imaging risk management and quality / audit programme and to undertake duties commensurate towards achievement of ISAS accreditation. To attend Radiology Governance meetings and to report all incidents, to include all radiation and drug error incidents in accordance with the Trust DATIX procedures and local operating policies and procedures.
10. To participate in the full shift system including Bank Holidays and weekends, and 'On call' rosters, in line with the departmental agreement, to support full service delivery.
11. Organise facilities for carrying out routine and specialist investigations sessions.
12. Be responsible for the operational supervision and management of an appropriate area, assessing and managing workflow to utilise available resources, in liaison with other staff in the department, and in the hospital. In the absence of other senior staff to supervise other areas ensuring those areas are working to agreed standards.
13. Deal with day to day queries generated by patients, staff and requests presenting at reception, and arrange appointments as necessary with prior consultation with radiological and senior radiographic staff where indicated and liaise with clerical staff, adapting standard bookings for patient specific conditions.
14. To facilitate communication between the department and all service users, patients, relatives, staff and external users, including any adherence to Trust policies, including participation in annual appraisal/review systems.
